Her mother Tracey Goulding-Summers worked at an ice cream shop and her dad Arthur Goulding was a member of the family known as an undertaker. Goulding was born in 2000. She has two sisters, Isabel and Jordan. She has a brother named Alex. Alex his brother is a bassist as well as a part of a Hereford band. When she was a child she was encouraged by her mother to learn the piano by her mother. Her first instrument was the clarinet as she was nine years old. She started writing her own songs at the age of 14, but it wasn't until she was in university that she began to seriously pursue songwriting. Goulding's fascination with electronica music began when she was pursuing her degree. Her fascination with electronic music began as she was studying.
